The BBC website

I really don’t know any websites for learn English, I mean I know a few websites but I think they are a little bored. When today we visited the pages of the BBC my experience told me that this page was be like the other pages that I know, but it wasn’t like that! Woohoo!
This website it’s really awesome, to begin with it’s a news site that makes it super interesting and also you can learn more English with a lot of help: you can listen the news and revise the vocabulary, then you listen the vocabulary and read the meanings that you don`t know.
When I visited the page, I first read a notice and listened the vocabulary, then I found a section of games and I made a crossword about abbreviations, very funny. When I realized that I couldn’t finish L I gave up. So that was the moment when I found my favorite part: “Ask about English”.
I reaaaally liked this website, because have a lot of content, it’s easy to find interesting things and have a good explanations. I liked it! And I thing that I will visit more often. J happy face!

My english sucks.

I need to write about my favourite picture, but I need to say that I don’t have one

After this year I will study photography so, many images fascinate me and it’s really difficult to me choose one image in the all world. But I decided talk about one picture that I took, this picture is not a master piece of art, but I love because it shows my favourite place in the world.

When I took this picture was the last time that I used my camera, and that was last night, while I was alone in my bedroom working with some things for the University, specifically working in my English dissertation. Like at eight p.m I looked through the window and I found this: a sunset with many clouds and red sky. Down, the city with its movements and lights.

For me it’s an awesome picture because means something personal. The view is from my house, I live with my sister and sometimes I felt a little alone, but now I discovered that could be nice to be alone sometimes. And with this view I can’t complain.

I love this picture because I`m in love of Santiago, Chile. Most people don’t like the place where born or want to live somewhere else. But I think that Santiago is wonderful and take pictures of it is the best thing ever! Specially its crowded streets and the different colors that lights produced...

Anyway, the most important thing about this picture is it composition and how you can catch the colors. It’s really easy, if you want to do it you need to put your camera in manual option and take a picture but slower than normal, you need to worry that your camera will be totally quite or the lights move around the entire picture. This was my little advice...I hope you will enjoy my picture!

The last primitive paradise

Today I want to write about an artist that I really like, and maybe you don't agree with my chose because I need to write about my favorite artist and he wasn't a good person, but I think that he was a reaaaally good artist, and anyway I love him. His name is Paul Gauguin.

Gaugin was one of the fathers of the Expressionism, and all started when he left Paris to go to a little town called Pont-Avon. Here he found all new world, a subjective world with the spirituality and simplicity that he needed. After this finding and now in Tahití, Gauguin resigned to the forms, perspective and he painted with a lot of colours but in a diferent way, he wasn't painted with the reals colors, he chaged the colours to things. For example we can see blue trees in many paintings. So he dosn't like the academicism and the empy realism.

Anyway, all this idea of represent a primitive culture started in the mind of the modern people that refuse all the modern life with the progress and industrial life. They needed find a new form of expression, more pure and simple. And fot that they must live in those pure places.

I have a lot of favorites artists, but I don't know why I think that Gauguin is wonderful. Maybe I like his life and all that he caused: a revolution of the colors, a new kind of seeing the world, and flat shapes in an era when art was pure realism.

Gaugin means a contradiction for me, because he traveled to Tahití and went to the pure place, but I need admit that he was a little psychopath and perverse with the native people. He had a fascination with young ladies. And he infected them of "sífilis" :(

But his art is much better than all the bad history and if you ask me for one of my favorite artits definitely the aesthetics and the proposed Gauguin I think it's wonderful.

To finish leaving you with a beautiful painting for me...magnificent!

Enjoy it!

And I hope this blog will help me with my English because it is really sad, I can make you cry with it. I hope also that we can share as a class and discuss our post..so welcome to my blog! :)

The Art Killer

Today I would like to write about one of my favorite artist; favorite conceptually but not aesthetically, conceptual because he killed the art. Later tell you why I believe that.

The name of this artist murderer is Marcel Duchamp. He was born into a family with money and with a lot of art around. But even his conservative environment he trained has an artist in a vanguard context. At twenty he began his first steps in art publishing caricatures and cartoons in newspapers, this defines his style full of irony. But, for me, the most important event that gave us Duchamp was the creation of the famous “ready-made”. A ready-made consist in an object of everyday life, an object created industrially in series which is presented as a work of art. Interested.
Now the conflict is: Art is what is called art, then anything can be art.

One of the first ready-made was the “Fontaine”, consists of a urinal industrial manufacturing and massive, which the artist signed with a nickname and presented on a pedestal as a work of art.
Duchamp thus opens a semantic problem into crisis the aesthetic categories that determine what is art and what is not.

I like it because on the one hand kills art, but otherwise he opened a new way of relating to art: now is the public who gives meaning to the art object.
